What an honour it has been to witness the ambition, reinvention, and resilience within our CIS Alumni community—from fresh graduates courageously navigating their first roles to seasoned alumni who continue to redefine what’s possible. Career paths never look like tidy straight lines. They twist, turn, and sometimes double back. But that’s where the magic happens—in the detours we take, the advice passed between generations of alumni, and those moments when someone says, ‘I’ve been there too.’ That’s how we turn individual careers into a real community.
To those just beginning: Your inexperience is not a weakness—it’s your chance for seeing solutions others overlook. Embrace the “beginner’s mind.” Ask questions freely. And remember: every detour teaches something no straight path could.
To those mid-career: You’ve earned your expertise—don’t let it become a fence. The most dynamic alumni I’ve met paused to ask: “Does this still align with who I am—and who I want to become?” Sometimes, the bravest step isn’t up, but sideways.
To the trailblazers: Your legacy isn’t just what you’ve built, but the minds you’ve shaped. A coffee chat, a lesson shared, or even a simple “yes I can relate” can alter a career. You’ve walked the path; now light the way.
Careers thrive on two things: preparation (resumes, networks, skills) and serendipity (the unexpected opportunity that clicks because you were ready). Please continue to nurture both.
This community’s greatest strength is our willingness to lift others. Remember: someone once helped you. Pay it forward when you can.
Thank you for letting me be part of your stories. I’ll always remain a proud cheerleader for Phoenixes everywhere. Keep in touch—and let’s keep writing our next chapters boldly.
