Mei Mei Song ’04

Our Class Ambassadors do a lot to help us stay connected with our alumni. But how well do you know them? We asked Mei Mei Song ’04 a series of questions to find out more about her – her likes, dislikes, quirks, and everything in between.

What have you been up to since you left CIS?

After graduating from University in Edinburgh, I pursued my interest in fashion (and asking a lot of questions) and worked for a lifestyle magazine, eventually launching their online product, then I joined my family business in Airport Hospitality, and spend most of my time with my kids and at the airport.

How do you prefer to start your day?

Gardening with my kids.

If you could snap your fingers and become an expert in something, what would it be?

I want to be a historian with perfect pitch and photographic memory.

If you could choose a superpower, what would it be?

To be able to teleport myself, it would just save so much time.

If you could only have three apps on your smartphone, which would you pick?

Calendar to organise, Spotify for podcasts and music, WeChat because it’s really 30 apps in one.

What’s your fondest memory of CIS?

Hmm, Ms Riddell, our homeroom teacher at the time, told us that we were naughty or disappointing or something of that sort, so to cheer her up and to an extent prove we can be fun and active participants in the school, I decided we can perform at the school assembly (I would like to point out no one had asked us to do so) so I persuaded Ms Riddell to get us a spot at the school assembly and convinced my green house classmates to be the spice girls and NSync, and perform a number in character to Spice Up Your Life and I Want You Back, in front of the whole school, it was so much fun we choreographed the whole thing, practiced after school, at each other’s home and just had a blast. At our graduation dinner, I think we actually performed it again!

What’s your worst memory of CIS?

Backstroke at swimming gala, I didn’t enjoy being worst of the best.
